Redland is home to many young professionals and families, attracted to the area's proximity to Bristol city centre and its vibrant community. It is known for its Victorian and Edwardian architecture with some lovely spacious villas which have been renovated and modernised, while still retaining their original charm and character.
It is also a popular area for students from the nearby University of Bristol who choose to live there in second and third year as an alternative to halls of residence. The suburb has a good selection of independent shops, cafés and restaurants, and is well connected to the rest of Bristol with excellent public transport links including a station with direct trains to the city centre.
For lovers of the outdoors, Redland has plenty of green space. Redland Green has a picnic area, playground and a wooded area which is managed to encourage biodiversity as well as a tennis club and bowling club. It’s also right by Durdham Down which is a popular kite flying destination.
