As one of the most important docks for import and export in the South West of England, and one of the largest ports in the UK, Avonmouth is known as an industrial, and sometimes noisy place to live. Many of its residents are employed in the port or related businesses. Other major employers include a power station, an oil refinery and a sewage treatment plant.
House prices in Avonmouth tend to be slightly lower than in the centre of Bristol and other surrounding areas so it can be a good place to look if you are a first-time buyer. You can choose from new build houses and flats or traditional Victorian terraces.
With excellent train and bus connections to Bristol and other nearby towns and plenty of green spaces including a nature reserve, it can be a great place for families.
